How do I scan text? Open the app and point your camera at any real-world text — a sign, menu, book, or package. Tap the shutter button to capture it, then highlight any word to generate a flashcard automatically. For more detailed instructions please try the “Show App Walkthrough” button in the settings page.
What languages can WordDex scan? WordDex supports 15+ languages including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, German, and more. The app detects the language automatically, or you can force a specific language in Settings.
Why isn't my scan working? Make sure the text is well-lit and in focus. For small text like furigana or fine print, try cropping in closer using the crop tool before scanning.
What is Word Scope? Word Scope is a premium feature that gives you a deep breakdown of any scanned word — including its grammar role, usage examples, and synonyms — powered by AI.
How does spaced repetition work? WordDex uses the Leitner system to schedule your reviews. Cards you know well appear less often; cards you struggle with come back sooner. Just use the Review tab daily for best results.
Do my flashcards sync across devices? Yes — sign in with Google or Apple to sync your cards across all your devices.
What's included in the free plan? Free users get a generous daily allowance of OCR scans and flashcard saves, with ad support. Word Scope is a premium feature.
How do I upgrade to Premium? Tap the diamond icon in Settings, or look for the upgrade prompt when you reach your daily limit. Premium removes ads and unlocks Word Scope and unlimited flashcards.
How do I restore my purchases? Go to Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription? Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → WordDex to cancel.
The app is crashing or behaving unexpectedly. Try force-quitting and reopening the app. If the issue persists, email us at [email protected] with your device model and iOS version.
